FAVORITE PART OF PLAYING CLARINET
We always get to play the melody!

FAVORITE NOTE ON CLARINET
B-flat below the staff because it feels stable in your hands and sounds rich!

FAVORITE PART OF TEACHING MUSIC
Getting to witness kids fall in love with making music for the first time!

Megan Wike

Megan Wike is a private clarinet teacher in Leander and Round Rock ISD. She was previously a band director in Round Rock ISD for 9 years. Ms. Wike holds a Bachelor Degree in Music Education from University of Houston and a Master Degree in Clarinet Performance from University of Miami.

FAVORITE PART OF PLAYING CLARINET: I love performing with other people and think there's something magical about connecting with others through live music!

FAVORITE NOTE ON CLARINET: Concert E-flat (specifically written 5th line F for B-flat clarinet - the first note of Brahms' Clarinet Sonata in E flat major)

FAVORITE PART OF TEACHING MUSIC: I light up when I can help students see something in themselves or express something about the world through music that they haven't known or done before. Bearing witness to and sharing in someone else's growth is amazing!

Cristina Davidson

Cristina Davidson is currently a band director at Wiley Middle School in Leander ISD. She holds a degree in Music Education from Sam Houston State University.

FAVORITE PART OF PLAYING CLARINET: I love that the clarinet has such a large range of notes! I love playing melodies and technique that shows off the clarinets' impressive amount of notes.

FAVORITE NOTE ON CLARINET: Fifth Line F

FAVORITE PART OF TEACHING MUSIC: Getting to help students achieve their next goal. From a beginner student learning the basics to more advanced students looking to improve their skill; it brings me so much joy to guide them, they work hard to improve and then celebrate their success!

Nathan Denman

Nathan Denman is currently a band director at Jones Middle School in Prosper ISD. Mr. Denman holds a Bachelors Degree in Music Education from Baylor University.

FAVORITE PART OF PLAYING CLARINET: All the different roles the clarinet gets to play! Sometimes you’re the melody with the flutes and oboes, sometimes you are a French horn providing the cool harmonies or counter melodies, and sometimes you are in the background supporting other instruments.

FAVORITE NOTE ON CLARINET: Bb below the staff

FAVORITE PART OF TEACHING MUSIC: Seeing young people achieve things they didn’t know they could. Nothing is more rewarding than watching a student break the glass ceiling of their capabilities!
